I.There is

There is + N_{số ít}

Ex: There is an apple on the table.

(Có một quả táo trên bàn)

There is + N_{không đếm được}

Ex: There is hot milk in the bottle.

(Có sữa nóng trong bình)

Nếu danh từ đầu tiên của chuỗi liệt kê là danh từ số ít thì ta dùng cấu trúc ‘There is’

Ex: There is a pen, a ruler and a book on the table.

(Có một cái bút, một cái thước kẻ và một quyển sách trên bàn)

II. There are

There are + N_{số nhiều}

Ex: There are three bananas in my bag.

(Có ba quả chuối trong túi của tôi)

Khi danh từ của chuỗi liệt kê bắt đầu bằng danh từ số nhiều thì dùng cấu trúc ‘There are’

Ex: There are two oranges, four bananas and a cake in the fridge.

(Có 2 quả cam, 4 quả chuối và 1 cái bánh trong tủ lạnh)
